Dr. Gem Brion Zabala Bio
Dr. Maria Romina Gem Brion Zabala is a prominent advocate for sustainability and human capital development in the Philippines. She serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of ACG Human Capital Solutions Corp., a firm specializing in human resource empowerment and sustainable practices.
Dr. Zabala’s commitment to sustainability was influenced by her upbringing in San Pablo City, Laguna, where her parents instilled the values of resourcefulness and environmental consciousness. Her mother practiced reusing plastic bags, and her father, a tinkerer, demonstrated the importance of repurposing materials.
Academically, Dr. Zabala holds a double major in Political Science and History from the University of the Philippines. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration. Professionally, she is a certified Master Trainer of the LIFO® Method (Life Orientations) from California, USA, and the Innovative Thinking System™ from Tokyo, Japan. Additionally, she achieved Level 1 certification from The Natural Step in the Netherlands in March 2022
Her career includes co-establishing Service Quality Solutions (SQS) in partnership with Service Quality Institute, Minnesota, USA, in 2016. Dr. Zabala is recognized for her support and implementation of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. She has been a speaker at various international sustainability conferences, including events in the Philippines, Japan, and Sweden.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Zabala is a personal coach to selected beauty queens, a diver, a practitioner of Filipino Martial Arts—Pekiti Tirsia Kali, a cross-fit enthusiast, an animal lover, and an advocate for environmental protection. She shares eco-friendly tips through her YouTube channel, “GEMs GREEN BOX,” promoting practical actions for a cleaner and greener Philippines.
Dr. Zabala’s holistic approach emphasizes individual responsibility and empowerment, encouraging people to adopt sustainable habits that contribute to the well-being of the community and the planet. Her leadership in integrating sustainability with human capital development continues to inspire positive change in the Philippines and beyond.
